Children's health care

The 2008 presidential campaigns of many politicians have started. There have been a number of debates on TV and many interviews with the candidates reported in newspapers and on the Internet.

The interviewers are asking candidates to raise their hands if they believe in evolution. They are asking candidates their religious beliefs. Candidates are being asked questions what they would have done in events that have already happened. How about asking them how they would help resolve current dilemmas?

One such dilemma is that there are nine million children in this country without health care. There are millions more who are eligible but fall through the cracks for one reason or another. American children are dying because of a lack of access to health care. How about asking these candidates what they are going to do about it? It isn't a big part of any candidates campaign.

We need a national commitment to provide basic health care for all children. If you are a child in the United States, you should have health care. We have a $13 trillion economy in America. Don't tell me you can't find enough money to provide basic health care for our children.

"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children." - Nelson Mandela.
